The return of the light

The Lord of All Darkness has no power to sustain
his reign.

Reluctantly, his grasp weakens and the days so slowly,
so surely begin to stretch their arms
into his domain.

Never again we hope to return to the long night
of yearning.

Never again to see only dimly the joy of life
in the flickering firelight
of our souls.

Hope with each new dawn waxes ever more fiercely,
ever more.

For what Great Architect having seen
the return of the light
would tolerate its diminishing?
